What was the barrier to success?

What was the barrier to success?

“What was the barrier to success?” she thought as she realized what a bright day it was. She was walking with the wind gently touching her skin and the rustling of leaves. She loved to be lost in the thoughts during walking. She felt her soul expanding, her mind opening up at such moments. What an opportunity to make new decisions, to take new actions!

Gamze wanted to be a successful athlete in her school and even in her country.  “But what was success? Is it getting medals or being recognized on social media?” "What about happiness?" she asked herself. Shouldn't people be happy as they succeeded? “When I looked at successful people, most of them were the ones who loved their jobs. To be so successful, one must love what one does." she added in a whisper that only the leaves could hear.

"Well, what do I like?" he thought. Sports, definitely sports, the most sports!

She was interested in gymnastics very early in her childhood. Her teacher, who had initially made her love this sport, had changed. In time, she also quit the sport. Because the new teacher was very strict and harsh. Day by day, she was unable to do most of the movements she could do before. Later on, she enrolled in a volleyball course. The school had a volleyball team and being there made you very popular. It was even more fun than gymnastics and there was always a score. It was a lively sport, the balance was always changing. But here, too, there were moments of tension with her family. Things didn't work the way she wished. The sneakers she wanted were a must. Because some brands were being talked about among his friends. She felt humiliated among them when she didn't dress like them. So over time she had an excuse for volleyball, too. She got cold, she didn't want to go. She closed the book on volleyball there too.

Nowadays, he was committed to swimming. This time she was determined. Swimming was a sport that had always been in her life since childhood. This time he had to avoid any obstacles. Just then he stumbled over a stone and fell to the ground. She was covered in mud. She sat down on a bench nearby. She needed to catch her breath and think for a while. Whenever she wanted to do something, she was always being stopped. She didn't know how to go to the course or return home in this state. At that moment, her eye fell on the forgotten newspaper on the bench. Not knowing what to do, she took it and turned the pages out of boredom. "Paralympic athlete Sümeyye is the world champion in swimming!" She had no arms and was world champion in more than one category. It was unbelievable, how could it be? Wasn't the handicap of not having arms an obstacle to swimming? Similar news were listed one after the other in the newspaper. She read the success stories of many so-called disabled athletes. Most of them had started sports at a very young age and continued despite all the difficulties they faced. Countless deaf and blind people had succeeded in skiing, weightlifting and swimming. Here is another similar story, "The story of a young man in the village who tried to ski with curtain cornices on his feet."

What was happiness?

What was its relationship with success?

And what was the obstacle to success?

Not having a part of your body? Not having the money to buy sports equipment? Teachers she didn't get along with? Friends who made fun of her? However, human beings can also run to their goals with cornices on their feet. However, human beings can reach the top in sports even without a part in their body.
