 Invisible Strings

I woke up to a cold and snowy morning today. I don't want to get out of my warm bed in such weather. But the day is waiting for me. I have to leave the warmth of my bed and get ready.

I looked at my cold slippers and was about to put them on when I heard noises outside. I got up quickly and looked out the window. It must have been snowing all night because the tires of the cars were buried in the snow. All the children in the neighborhood were slowly waking up to play snowball. It was a magnificent sight. Everything was white, tree branches were covered with snow. Those who were going to work were cleaning their cars. But the windows were frozen and wiping them was not enough so they were pouring water over them. A group of people were trying to walk to the bus stop. Slipping and falling, getting buried in the snow... There were people who started building snowmen. I watched them all in front of the window for almost an hour, a white scene and tiny movements. It looked so mesmerizing. I stopped and thought, what was it that fascinated me this much? Was it the snow or the various funny movements of the people? Or something else, I honestly didn't know.

Life was full of diversity. No one was alike. Even when doing the same thing they differ from each other. How could everything exist together despite so many differences? Everything is related to each other, yet unrelated at the same time. The trees are beautiful on their own but they add beauty and meaning to its surroundings. The snow and the tree two things that seem unrelated. But the tree gets its minerals and vitamins from the snow water. How about insects and worms living in the soil? They were also creatures living on their own, but they had a bond with the tree and the soil. They aerate the soil so that the snow water could seep into the soil and nourish the plants and trees. Each one needed one another to exist.

Just like human beings. All organs are unique but they work in harmony. How the heart, the eyes, the ears are connected to each other. How they organize to fulfill their duties. How one requires other to exist. Without breathing, the oxygen level in our blood drops and we die. But we are hardly aware of these things in our day to day lives. There are so many miraculous things happening each second yet we normalize them. We behave as if it is a given thing. We seldomly think about the great system behind all things. Even if we do, we forget and move on with our lives. For one snowflake to fall, many things should be ready. Only when appropriate conditions are met a snowflake is formed. Then it falls on the earth to create those beautiful landscapes. It turns into snowflakes that give us joy, that we have memories of.

The Experiential Design Teaching says: "Everything in life is in relation with each other, directly or indirectly."

We are all connected by invisible strings. Some strings are tighter, some are very thin. Our needs and the needs of others are intertwined together. For those who are curious to see, there are various colors and shades in all this diversity…
