When You Were a Tiny Drop of Water

You were a tiny drop of water...

What made you so important?

You were tiny, simpler than most things.

Then you grew up and became a piece of meat.

Did that make you feel important?

Then you turned into a baby and grew up.

You tried to exist.

A member of your family...

A student at his school...

A citizen in his hometown...

Then I have a plate on the table,

You wanted a desk in class.

You wanted so much to have a place in someone's heart...

What was this effort, why?

It wasn't until much later that you realized it was futile.

You couldn't grow up...

Even though you were so big in your own eyes...

You were a tiny drop of water...

How big you made yourself, your desires...

What made you feel so big,

You were a tiny drop of water...

Then you became a piece of meat,

Then the baby... Then you grew up.

Then... What really happened?

Why so much desire, so much ambition, so much fighting?

If we all remember that we're just a tiny drop of water...

When it is possible to hold hands and unite our hearts...

Free from grandiosity, free from unnecessary existential striving,

Just as snowflakes manage to fall without touching each other.

That's how we could have succeeded in becoming brothers,

Remembering who we are...

Who were we really?

Then let's start with the question that should have been asked in the first place.

Who is who really?

Yet, we all tried to exist somewhere.

The more we tried to exist, the more we sank.

If only we had remained tiny drops of water,

If only we had understood our helplessness,

Without arrogance, away from futile existential struggles,

In the flow of life...

We would have come and gone…

Like a tiny drop of water joyfully passing through the river...
